Get involved

Build the future of autism and aging AI with us.

We are an open collaboration: researchers, clinicians, developers, families, and self-advocates all contribute meaningfully. The lab's scope spans autism (Grovalin, Volitiq), and increasingly older-adult and disability populations (HEARTH).

Ways to contribute

Four lanes, all needed.

Developers & engineers

Fix bugs, implement features, improve performance and accessibility, and build new integrations across the lab's engineering stack.

  • Web frontend (React, Astro)
  • Backend (Python, FastAPI, SAM/CDK)
  • ML pipelines (PyTorch, vision, signal processing)
  • Edge inference (Jetson, Raspberry Pi)

Researchers & clinicians

Co-author studies, validate tools against clinical datasets, shape research direction, contribute domain expertise.

  • Motor phenotyping (Volitiq, WAVE)
  • Cardiorespiratory monitoring (PULSE)
  • Contextual learning (Grovalin)
  • IRB protocols & clinical assessment integration

Data contributors

Help gather anonymised, ethically-approved research data, particularly from older-adult, disability, and underrepresented cohorts.

  • Multi-home WiFi CSI datasets (WAVE)
  • Multi-cohort rPPG video (PULSE)
  • Cross-environment, cross-skin-tone benchmarks
  • Data annotation tasks

Clinicians, families & self-advocates

Test tools, surface real-world needs, and provide feedback that grounds development in practice.

  • Test new features and updates
  • Report usability and accessibility issues
  • Suggest improvements from lived experience
  • Participate in research studies

Open positions

HEARTH collaborators

The HEARTH program is actively seeking collaborators in geriatric care, occupational therapy, gerontechnology, and disability advocacy. If you have a relevant clinical population or methodological expertise, please reach out.

Funding partners

Grant collaboration

We are positioning submissions to NSF Smart and Connected Health (multi-modal angle), NIH (NIA, NIDILRR, NICHD), and foundation grants (RWJF, AARP Innovation Fund, disability-rights foundations). Co-investigator and consultant roles available.
